Peer Response #4

It was interesting to read about how public some of Ella’s social media accounts are as I am someone who keeps everything private. I post very little on my accounts. She mentions that she posts frequently and that’s how it’s been for years. I am curious if she has noted any positives and negatives that come with having a public social media account. It can definitely connect you with new people around the world but it also has its own dangers with having too much personal information for anyone to access.

I also liked reading about her digital visitor and resident map. She mentions how she stays logged out when searching on Google but I wonder about her YouTube account. Is it the same Gmail account that she uses? It would interesting to note the connection between all of them, if there is one, as it would all leave a digital footprint.

Bailey’s first blog post was short and straight forward. She ties in the indirect use of social media with her work as her TikTok displayed useful information for Microsoft Office. I wonder what would have influenced her algorithm to display the hacks and shortcuts she mentions in her post. Was she searching for them online? Did she use the same email for work as her TikTok account? While these TikToks have proved useful for her work, I am curious about the correlation between her recent TikToks and her summer job. I think it really shows how everything online can be connected and leaves a digital footprint, whether we realize it or not.

Bailey also highlights how she can use different social media platforms to share different aspects of her life. I would have loved if she expanded on how she maintains the balance between her personal and professional accounts, and how she defines “important people” when talking about sharing her life on private accounts.
